On the steps of the library Monday morning, -July 30, Byrd (Mrs. E. M. “Ned”) Jones gave to the Rappahannock County Library a gift of 13,111.56 square feet of land. Mrs. Jones chose the Friends of the Rappahannock County Library to receive and administer this gift for the library in order to make possible the erection of a building on the land, which will be architecturally in keeping with the present library and will provide much needed additional library space.
Hard ait work since early July has been Emiel Smet, the new building inspector w ho can be reached at the Zoning Office in the courthouse complex in Washington. Smet has recorded pages and pages of inspection during his first few weeks in office. He’s well-qualified for his new position and warns, “I am tough "
Green beans by the bushel, tomatoes by the box, zucchini by the pick-up truck load - Baptist minister Steve Scoggin has taken up an additional summertime job of offering these vegetables in quantity to would-be canners. Scoggins is not trying to supplement his pastoral salary. Since last winter he's been gardening for the benefit of his World Hunger Project.
