McCarthy also said that Rappahannock County may not meet federal criteria for funding based on population density and lack of a core fiber optic network around a major town such as could be found in other areas.
The Sheriff’s Office requested $28,000 for a new vehicle to replace the one destroyed during a high speed chase earlier this summer. However, the cost to covct the vehicle (from insurance payments and other savings) was returned to the general fund from the Sheriff’s Office at the end of last fiscal year so-there was no need for additional revenue to pay for the vehicle.
The Washington Volunteer Fire company asked for $9,572 to repair the pump on Tac Unit One (the tanker.)
The requests from the Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Fire Company were approved.
The board also heard a report on services in the county from Brian Duncan of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board.
