Working with Dr. Allen is another veteran orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Robert Rutkowski. ‘It’s all about service to the patient,” said Rutkowski. “We had one patient who was 83 and after one month, he was moving around better and after two months he was off all pain medication.”
Rates of recovery vary depending on the patient and the extent of the surgery. “Most hip replacements are done on patients between 60 and 80years-of age," said Rutkowski. “We’re not telling them they can compete in a marathon, we’re not guaranteeing that but they will be able to walk around, perhaps play tennis, and the quality of their lives will be improved with the absence of pain.”
