The Republican Party won the hearts and votes of Rappahannock County this Election Day, as it did throughout Virginia and in much of the nation.
It did not, however, help Terry Dixon, 46, or Tom Junk, 57, win seats on the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors. Those were taken with comfortable margins by Junk’s Piedmont District opponent, Mike Biniek, 57, a Sperryville farmer and bed and breakfast owner, and by Dixon’s Stonewall-Hawthorne opponent, Viewtown hay farmer Chris Parrish, 61.
“Ill tell you the truth,” Biniek said Tuesday night after learning he'd won. “I have a lot of homework to do. First thing I’m doing is making an appointment with [County Administrator] John McCarthy and get up to speed.”
“I’m delighted to win,” Parrish said. “I was really happy with the turnout here and proud that so many in the district came out today.”
