Parrish - a longtime Republican who, like all the supervisor candidates, ran as an independent - received 393 votes to Dixon’s 212.
Both Junk and Dixon, the latter chairman of the local Republican Committee, received Republican Party endorsements and committee contributions, setting off a series of complaints (most passionately from past and present county Democratic Party leaders) that partisan politics had no place in traditionally nonpartisan local elections.
Biniek received 349 votes to former Planning Commission member Junk’s 235 votes. Unopposed school board candidates Elizabeth Hilscher (StonewallHawthome) and Aline Johnson (Piedmont) received 518 and 486 votes, respectively.
