Following the stockholders’ meeting, the 'board of directors
met and elected officd^sf: Robert W. Miller, president; Wade H. Massie, Jr., vice-president; and C. E. Johnson, Jr., chairman. The executive officers are: Mrs. B. F. Bruce, casher; J. Rodes Brown, Jr., assistant cashier; and Allen D. Johnson, assstant cashier.
(Later in the evening, when the "shouting and the tumult” had died, etc., J. Rodes Brown, Jr., requested the following addition to the account of the meeting. In all fairness to Mrs. Bruce, it shoi Id be told that she tried to shut him up, but she was outnumbered when Mr. Biown unaided and abetted by Allen It. Johnson.
"Be sure and print that Mrs. Bruce is cashier and Allen and I are janitors, lies broom-man and I'm mop-jockey. A. J. ‘Slaughter is our first assistant. And, don't lorget to say that we asked for raises and all three of us got the same an-wer, but we've got a plan for Mrs. Bruce to get the money and split it three ways.”
During the giving of this information by Mr. Brown and Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Brice interrupted in vain. She may get the work out of that pair, but she surely has to take the teasing! It must agree with her, however, for she's as pretty as usual and her health doesn't seem impaired.)
