Locates 1894 Souvenir The following: poem, written on the back of a Virginia Treasury $l-note, bearing the date 1862, was exhibited by R. L. Massie of Flint Hill who has had the note in his possession for some time and he tirinks that he acquired it from the late J. W, Price. The note, on back of which the inscription w a s written, was -found on the person of a dead Confederate soldier at the close of the war. These notes were given away as souvenirs bv Henry Schneider, manufacturer of "men’s and ladies' fine boots and -•hoes'’ at Winchester, 1894. Such notes are collectors' items and are of interest to those who enjoy study of the ‘‘Lost. Cause.” Confederate Memorial Representing nothing on God’s earth now, And naught in the waters below it, A' a pledge of a nation'that’s dead and gone, Keep it, dear friend, and show it.
