On October lfi, 1915, John A. Browning, Jr., married Elizabeth Frances Boyd, a daughter of Dr. George W. and Clara R. Boyd, of Washington, D. C., the former of whom is deceased and the latter a resident of Washington, D. C. John A. Browning, Jr., died February 22, 1929, and “Greenfield” is now owned and operated by his widow, Elizabeth Frances Boyd Browning Lewis. In April 1945 Mrs. John Armistead Browning married John Armistead Lewis of “Cleve”, King George County, Va. Mr. Lewis is the nephew of Mrs. Lewis’ former husband and is the son of Belle Browjiing of *‘Greeiffield” an<^

About the'yea* lboo Ashby taught school at “Green- - field.” Among the children at; tending her classes were Charlie, Belle and Bessie Browning and Emma and Ada E^stham.
About two miles from “Greenfield” at “San Jacinto”, R. R. Henry taught school for Archilles Murat Willis, great uncle of the Browning children. ' Mr. Henry met Miss Lucy Ashby at “Greenfield”, which resulted in their subsequent marriage in the parlor of that mansion. Mr. Henry j,afterwards became Major Henry and moved with his wife to Tazewell, where he became a successful and distinguished lawyer.
After that period a similar school at “Greenfield” was taught by Miss Savilla Denton, of Culpeper. Her students were Fannie Lewis, John, (the late Justice • George L. Browning) and Willis Browning, Charles W. ^Warden and Edward If. Green. „ The third school at “Green
