Mias Gail Scott of the Washington Sr. 4-H Club and Forest Grove 4-H in the summer received the blue ribbon, at Forest Grove, for her fine work on a blouse and sldrt.
Miss Evelyn Mills of the Huntly 4-H Club in the summer, also, received a blue ribbon. She made a most attractive cotton dress, which she will show on Thursday the 20th at the 4-H County Con-* test.
Miss Rosa Belle Williams of the Chester Gap 4-H Club made a very pretty blouse ensemble for which she won a blue ribbon.
Two girls won out in the Washington Jr. and Sr. 4-H Club. These were Miss Jean Hawkins, and Miss Betty Lou Rutherford. These girls won out on their wonderful “Food Preparation?' records this summer.
All the above girls will enter the county 4-H contest on the 20th, and try their luck at winning out in this contest. Home Demonstration Clubs
met last week, the Amissville H. D. and the F. T. Valley H. D. The Amissville club met at the home of Mrs. Will Walters. The main business taken up at this meeting was “Planning 1951 Tentative Program." A very interesting and valuable program was finally decided upon. Then the agent gave a demonstration on “Salad Making." Five salads and three salad dressings were demonstrated. After the demonstration the members were given a taste of all the salads prepared. The F.T. Valley Home Demonstration Club met at the home of Mrs. C. R. Hite on the 13th. .The members present also planned tentatively what they want along the demonstration line for 1951. Then, the agent gave a demonstration on “Refinishing Small Articles otf Furniture.” One picture frame, one cane bottom chair, one split bottom chair, one vanity stool and a sugar bucket were completed at this meeting.
4-H County Contest to be held today, Thursday, July 20, to choose the four girls doing the best 4-H work this summer in Food Preparation, Food Preser-* vation, Room Improvement and Clothing Construction. This con- ' test will-be held at the Washington Fire House, starting at 1:30 p.m.
Rural Institute of Affairs to be held at Blacksburg August 2nd through 4th. Around five women from the county expect to attend this Institute and four men. The theme of the Institute this year is “The Virginia Farm Family at the Mid Century.” .
