Old Raspberry Canes
Should Be removed .
Old raspberry canes which bore fruit this year should be cut off and burned as soon a* possible after harvest.
H. "Bruce Aroian, small fruits specialist at V.BLI.; says, these! old canes will not bear fruft'agaih, and, if not removed, will be a means of spreading disease to new growth which will become the fruiting canes next year.
After removing old canes, keep the planting clean cultivated until early fall. Aroian advises shallow cultivation of all small fruit plant* , ings to avoid injury to the shallow; root systems.
