Holiday Accidents
In an effort to stem the flood tide of traffic accidents predicted in Virginia during the Fourth of July holiday, 1,789 arrests and summonses were handled by the State Police alone on July 2, 3, and 4, Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent, revealed recently.
These, he said, were in addition to numerous warnings in cases where violations were of minor nature or where there were mitigating circumstances and literally thousands of cases in which stranded, confused or lost motorists were aided and .accidents were .investigated.
