Interested in having a fall gar* den? Now’s the time to do some* thing about it, says F. H. Scott, vegetable gardening specialist at VPI.

Work the parts of the garden available' now. Don’t prepare the soil too deeply, though, as it will interfere with the movement of moisture to the surface. Plant the seeci a little deeper than the correct depth for spring seeding.

Fertilizer usually is needed for most crops, but ordinarily not as much is needed for the fall garden as for the spring garden.
