Miss Lois Domazet, of Culpeper, played the traditional wedding marches and Mr. John Houghton, of /Portsmouth, sang “Because,” and at the close of the ceremony, “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Charles W. Hawkins, wore a gown of white satin, it was made with a marquisette yoke trimmed in heirloom lace, fitted bodies- and had long sleeves that ended in points over the hands. Her finger tip veil of illusion fell from a tiara of seed pearls and /she carried a ■ testament centered with a white orchid.
Miss Evelyn Normont, of Sparta, was the maid of honor and wore a dress of dark green moire taffeta fashioned like the bride’s. She wore matching mitts and an arrangement of net and flowers in her hair and carried an old fashioned nosegay of roses and red pompons.
Mrs. Robert Reese, sister of the bridegroom, was the bridesmaid. She wore a deep rose taffeta, identical in style to the honor attendant, and carried a similar bouquet.
The flower girls, Veronica Schober, niece of the bride, and Cecile Lee Carder, niece of the bridegroom, scattered rose petals from white baskets. Joseph Schober, Jr., nephew of the bride, carried the rings on a white satin • pillOW.. * -v • ■ ” i ^ ,--T
Russell Carder was his brother’s best man and the nshers were Silas Carder, brother of the bridegroom; Fred Saunders, of Fredericksburg; Joseph A. Hawkins, Jr., and Amos Hawkins, brothers of the bride. f r
The bride’s mother wore a light blue dress with navy accessories and a lavender orchid corsage. The bridegroom’s mother was unable to he present due to illness.
Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s tincle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Hawkins. The entire lower floor was decorated with white flowers, greens and candles. The bride’s table was centered with an arrangement of white roses, delphinum and baby’s breath.
The three-tiered wedding cake was cut by Mrs. R. H. Norment.
Alternating at the punch bowl were Mrs, Clarence B. Johnson, and Mrs. Charles W. Hawkins.
