The citizens met around here (who would fall in the government’s category of “old age”) are some of the county’s finest. A lady, who saw 16 well before this century began, says that old age begins with the day you get enough sense to know how to live, and then you discover folks think it’s time for you to die.
I’ve always felt a tinge of envy of those considered “old.” They’ve had the Jbenefit of so many more years of learning. They’ve lived long enough to know how to enjoy living.
Some of us, chronologically, are not old, but not one in a dozen of us will have sufficient intelligence to profit by the experience of those whose years are more numerous. We’ll stumble along, learning the hard way.
