Miss Hammer*trom made her Virginia debut with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra in its presentation of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Williamsburg Summer Concerts. Mr. Mathwig studied with Louis Persinger and Naoum Blinder and is a meml>er of the Vir' ginia Touring Orchestra.
Mr. Mathwig’s numbers next Sunday will consist of Sonata # 5Brahms, Contr'ition-Bloch, Liebesfreud-Kreisler and Levee DanceWhite. Miss Hammerstrom will include Alleluja-Mozart, Still wie die Nacht-Carol Bohm, MountainsOscar Rasbach and Let My Song Fill Your Heart-Ernest Cliarles. The accompanist Joan Ewers will present a group of piano solos.
Presented in atmospherical surroundings of history, art and natural setting,' the Festival programs will be given on succeeding Sunday afternoons. On August- 10, William Haaker, will appear in piano recital that will include the Mozart A major Sonata. Other Sunday afternoon concerts will be of joint recital*and orchestra ensemble nature with Tivis Wicker, baritone and Jeanne Chalifoux, harpist, in recital on August 17, and planned concerts by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra directed by William Haaker on Sundays, August 24 and 31. An added Festival Concert-will be given the evening of Sunday, August 31 at the Middleburg Community CenLer by the Virginia" Symphony Orchestra.
Added features of the Festival will include an Art Exhibit of water colors, from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, by contemporary Virginia Artists. There will also be a Blue Ridge Workshop for four weeks, under sponsorship of the Virginia Orchestra State Guild for young symphonic aspirants, starting August
