A gentleman from a neighboring county was in the first delegation | that traveled down to Richmond to help keep the bus company from discontinuing bus service through Rappahannock.

. He tried to explain his views. He voiced the opinion that he knew there were bound to be certain routes on the many bus lines that did not make as much profit to the bus company as other lines; but, like a store, where the merchant didn’t make much profit on one item, he made it upon another, so that he could make the business as a whole pay a living.

It was a rather hot day when the delegation visited Richmond, and the gentleman from our neighboring county didn’t bother-to make himSelf appear too much like a city-slicker. Some lawyer must have misjudged the gentleman’s wit, for in trying to represent the bus company’s interests, the lawyer asked the gentleman : “Suppose you had three farms and cne of them didn’t pay? What would you do?” The reply came quickly enough, “I nave three farms and none of 'em pay.”
