Blue Ridge Festival
Invited To Be Heard
On “Voice Of America’ V
An invitation has been extended to the Blue Ridge Music Festival from Chauncey Kelley, special projects office, music service, International Program Division, to participate in “The Voice of America.”
Mr. Kelley states, “These trans. scribed programs will enable over seas listeners to acquaint themselves with summer musical activities throughout the United States. The transcribed programs, each to contain one orchestral concert of a summer series in a representative city or area, will prove invaluable in furthering ari awareness and understanding of musical culture. - '
‘“The Voice of America would like to have one of these transcribed programs feature the Virginia Symphony Orchestra performing at the Blue Ridge Music Festival. To this end I am writing to ask if it might be possible to record a concert of the 'Virginia Symphony Orchestra during this summer. If so, it would be necessary to send a music producer engineer to Washington, Virginia, to tape record the concert. The Voice of America will arrange all union clearances, American Federation of Musicians, stage hands, etc.”
The Board of Directors of Blue Ridge Music Festival is giving due consideration, as they feel sure that patrons of the organization will feel it a privilge and duty to make these concerts a success.
