Horn flies are one of the most serious pests of beef cattle—as well as dairy herds—during the summer.
Usually, these small pests, clustered on the backs and under the sides of animals on pasture, appear late in spring. The best time to spray to rid cattle of these pests is when the horn flies average about 25 to 30 per adult animal. It is highly recommended the sprayings be repeated at 3 to 4 week intervals to control the pests until cool weather, after which spraying may be dis- j continued.
