Sunday, August 17 will mark the second Blue Ridge Music Festival .Concert' of the season at Avon Mills, Washington, Virginia. Jeanne Chalifoux, harpist and Tivis Wicker, baritone, both of riationwide acclaim, will he featured in joint recital in the rustic atmosphere of the pre-revolut ionary grist mitt. . . Miss Chalifoux is the third generation harpist in her family. Her father’s mother, Madame Olivier Chalifoux, was a distinguished harpist in Birmingham, Alabama. Her aunt, the famous Alice Chalifoux, has been the first harpist of the Cleveland Orchestra for the past twenty years. In spite of these distinguished affiliations, Jeanne is an artist in her own right. J Like so many outstanding young ^harpists, ^he tomes from the South, lK>m^in Birmingham, Alabama and educated in Richmond, Virginia. Her musical training was at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Last spring, Jeanne Chalifoux toured the country with Carlos Salzedo as his associate harpist in the famous Salzedo Concert Ensemble "Tivis Wiclter, often referred to as thg young baritone “Born' with a natural golden voice,” wins the hearts of his concert audiences throughout the United States. His nupsical career began early in life when at- the age of 16 he was chosen as soloist with the richmond Symphony. His New York musical training under Paul Althouse brought forth his appearance in the Broadway production “Showboat.” Other highlights in his career include his appearance with Howard Barlow’s orchestra on the "Harvest of Stars" rado program and soloist last spring with the Virginia Orchestna under the direction of William Haaker. -
