What Is RAD?

Since, the introductory meeting of Rural Area Development, people in the community have been asking "What is RAD? how does it affect me?” Committee chan-men have asked to have their role defined.
The purpose of RAD is the development of our natural resources to their fullest potential. By natural resources is meant not only natural resources in the strict sense of the word, our soil, forests, etc., but also developing our people, our standard of living, our health, our home life.
Committee members will be meeting to determine county problems to set goals for solving these problems then work towards their solutions.
Where do the Social Development Committees fit in to the RAD program? Census figures show that only 16.1 per cent of the homes in Rappahannock County have plumbing facilities. 1 Perhaps there is something the RAD Committee might want to do to help raise this percentage.
