In the “Senior Drum & Bugle Corps” and “Junior Drum & Bugle Corps” divisions, prizes will be for the Senior group, $60, $30 and plaque; for the Junior group, $40, $20 and plaque. The “Best Appearing Ladies Auxiliary” (25 minimum) will receive $50, with second (min. 20) and third (min. 10) place awards, $25 and plaque. The fire company coming the longest distance and bringing motorized equipment, will receive $50. The winning drum major, drum majorette and best majorette group (min. 6 girls) will each receive a plaque. These awards will be judged on performance and appearance, exclusive of accompanying unit. This year’s Apple Blossom fete will cover three days—May 3-4-5.
33,542 Visit the Park
The Shenandoah National Park has reported that 33,542 visitors had been checked on the Skyline Drive in spite of the cold weather in January. ^This is a 9.7 per cent increase over the same month last year.
The Park Service said also that central entrance was again the most popular with visitors. 23,405 visitors were counted at Panorama.
