Winchester, Va.—Invitations to the 1962 Shenandoah Apple Bios som Festival Firemen’s parade on Thursday, May 3, 6 P. M., have been mailed to 275 prospective units in Virginia, West Virginia,
linas, Tennessee and Florida.
Prizes to be given the winning fire companies and musical groups total $900 and, in addition, there will be a number of trophies aind plaques awarded. The prize money will all go to out of town units as Winchester and Frederick County groups do not compete for awards in the parade. Harry E. Cain, Stephens City, Va., is director of the night parade.
The top cash prize of $100 will go to the “Best Appearing Uniformed Fire Company” (minimum 30 men). Second prize (minimum 20 men), $50 and third prize, (minimum 10 men), $25. First prize for “Best Pumper over 500 Gallons” will be $75 with second and third prizes, $50 and $25. “Best Pumper under 500 Gallons” will receive the same three prizes.
In the “College, Prep School & Municipal Bands” division, first prize for the “Best Class A” band will be $50, with $25 and Plaque for second and third places. Identical awards will be given the “Best
