We’re hearing a lot lately about how the Internal Revenue Service is putting electronic sleuths in the form of computing devices on the trail of income tax digressors. So far not a great deal of information about the new gadget operation has been forthcoming, but there have been some ominous twists for the innocent taxpayer as well ^ for the would-be chiseler. + The idea brings to mind some questions, not the least* of which centers on the ultimate cost of these new-fangled scientifis bloodless bloodhounds. It is understood that even the most modest office models can’t be purchased for hay short of quite a few thousand tons of hay, anyway. And Uncle LiveIt-Up was never one to settle for the small model of anything. Nothing but the biggest and best and then,, if you don’t like it, sell it for a song or just discard and forget it.
Then, will these uncanny devices track down enough previously escapee taxes to cover their cost? If they should, and more, will the taxpayer who has tried to be honest though harried live to see a modern miracle in the form of, reduced income taxes?
