21 Safety Awards
Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Co. each year honors employees having outstanding safety records. This year S. E. Brown, District Plant Superintendent, Front Royal, announc-! ed the Company was has named 21 Front Royal employees who would receive this award for their safety record during 1961. i
The awards, to the employees, i were in the form of gold, silver and white certificates and a$e signed by Judson Large, President of the company. The presentation of these awards is made according to the number of accident free years. The Gold Certificate represents ten or more accident free years worked by an employees: Silver Certificates represent five to nine years; and White Certificates less than five years.
Mr. Brown stated he was happy to present the Gold Certificate to J. B. Compton, District Manager, the most outstanding employee who received this award for 27 years without an accident. Others issued Gold Certificates were: Martin Settle, Gilbert R. Frazier, Warren C. Watson, Jr., Mervin M. Waters, Carroll J. Price, Bernie Bailey, Harry C. Cole, Ruth Eastham, Reba Higgs, Phyllis B. Kinsey. Silver Certificates: Cletus Frazier, Harlon A. Harper, Colleen G. Hepner, Catherine A. Showers, Larry R. Hepner, A. D. Barnes, S. E. Brown and Franklin Snyder. White Certificates: W. E. Stephenson and E. L. Frazier.
Religious Cantata
The Culpeper Baptist Church Choir under the direction of Harry Forbes with the Reverend John S. Farrar as narrator, will present Hallelujah! What A Saviour!, Friday, September 21 at 8 p.m. in Washington Baptist Church. The Culpeper Choir is presenting this inspiring cantata in several churches during September. The Washington Church extends an invitation to all who appreciate good religious music. \
