Mr .and Mrs. Melvin Williams, of Washington, Va., have purchased “Bertha’s Diner,” the restaurant on Route 211 in the town of Washington. Mrs. Williams had been employed there for some time by Mrs. B. R. Armel, the former owner.
Bake Sale
A bake sale will be held at the Northern Virginia Power Company at Front Royal on Friday, September 14, starting at 9 a.m. The proceeds will go for benefit of Chester Gap Baptist Mission. Featured at the sale will be homemade cakes, pies, cupcakes, candy.

With a total capture of summer and fall beauty, the Bromfield Ladies prepare for the 1962 Annual Fall House and Dried Flower Tour on October 20-21.
The art of having to enjoy the year-around, is a realized pleasure for those who will prepare, arranged and exhibit the full colors of summer flower beds and fall foliage. Processed and preserved for the otherwise wintertime bleakness, the true colors of nature are here to enjoy on the mantle, in the living room or on the dining table.
