SUPERVISORS OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY,

VIRGINIA ON SEPTEMBER 5, 1962, REGULATING

THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

UpQN THE PUBLIC ROADS, HIGHWAYS AND

STREETS IN THE COUNTY OF RAPPAHANNOCK,

VIRGINIA, FOR ADOPTION BY THE

BOARD AT ITS NEXT REGULAR MEETING TO

BE NRLn ON OCTOBER 3, 1962, AT 10:00 A.M,

IN THE COURTHOUSE AT WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA.

Pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 641, Acts of Assembly^ 1968, Chapter 4, Article 2, Section 46.1-180, 46.1-181 and 46.1-182; the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County doth ordain as follows:

1. It be unlawful for any person to refuse, fail or neglect to comply with any of the provisions of this ordinance.

2. The driver of a motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer shall atop, slow down, or regulate the speed of such motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer, to accord with the requirements of road sigm^ erected upon the authority of the State Highway Commission. jjf 8. Whenever any person is arrested for violation of any provision of this ordinance, the arresting officer shall, except as otherwise provided herein, take the name and address of such person ‘and the license number of his motor vehicle and issue a summons •or otherwise notify him in writing to appear at a time and place to be specified in such summons or notice, such time to be at least five days after such arrest, unless the person arrested shall demand an earlier hearing and such person Shall, if he so desires, to have a right to an immediate hearing, or a hearing within twentyfour hours, at a convenient hour, and before a court having jurisdiction under this ordinance within the County of Rappahannock, wherein such offense was committed. Such officer shall thereupon, and upon thp giving by such person of his written promise to appear at such time and place, forthwith release him from custody.

Any person refusing to give such written promise to appear shall be taken immediately by the arresting officer before the nearest or most accessible, court having jurisdiction under this ordinance.
