The Town Council of the Town >f Washington, Virginia met on Fuesday, Sept. 11 at the Court House with all members present and the Mayor presiding.
It was the first meeting of the lew Cuoncil which went into office on Sep. 1 and business consisted primarily of appointing jommittees.
Dorothy Hawkins, who has t>een a Council member since 1950, was reappointed to the Street Light Committee and was advised to invite a representa<tive of the Northern Virginia Power Company to the next meeting to discuss newer type lighting.
Bertha Armel was appointed to the Street Cleaning Committee which is responsible for trash collection, street cleaning and mowing of weeds.
Edna Wayland was reappointed to the Trash Committee and asked to replace the necessary missing cans.
