Enjoyed my trip to Kentucky
week before last. Saw plenty of mountains, but none as pretty as tne liiue Ridge. Guess maybe 1 am a bit biased. The cities of Huntington and Carieston, West Virginia ,were nice as cities go . . . But me, I’m just corn fed and country, 1 reckon.
1 know tnat between here and Berea no one is ever caught for speeding for the roads are too curving and hilly. Come to think of it, on the wnoie trip I saw only two troopers, botn in W. Va.
However, after hitting Route 25, south, the land levels out [and by the time we arrived in Berea the going was good and the country very nice. My stay tnere was nice but very short. Spent the night in famous Boone Tavern, a/ lovely hotel wmcn is stalled ninety per cent by Berea College students, as is most everything else in the town.
Returning home alone, I re* gretted not having time to visit along the way. As I came through Covington I thought of Rev. and Mrs. Claude Cook there; the sign to Afton reminded me of Rev. and Mrs. Jester. In the beautiful city of Waynesboro Rev. and Mrs. Divers came to mind and of course as I entered Charlottesville I was warmly reminded of the Goodsons. Well, spiritually, you can’t say I wasn’t traveling in good company.
