Dear Folks:
It’s 'been such a long time since I have visited with you folks. It’s nice to be back. I know you all are anxious to hear the news. Of course the news I can’t write for the “Rappahannock News” is always the most interesting.
First the big news is the sale of the paper to Angus and Duff Green. And what a face lifting it had last week. Now I feel £s if I am reading a newspaper - always did hate the small ones, Didn’t you? Sarah is eager to hear from as many of you as possible. She would like you to voice your opinion of the paper, good or bad. Get busy and write us.
Another new look around town is Trinity Church. The hedge has gone and the old iron fence is once again being rejuvenated. You can see the church anyhow!
Have you visited the rummage sale the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fire Company having here in town? If not, do so by all means this weekend. They do have some real old fashioned bargains.
As in all towns there are lots of comings and goings. Richard Burke left Sunday to attend Richard Bland College of William and Mary in Petersburg. George Davis, III left this week for University of Virginia. Diana Carr has entered St. Margaret’s in Tappahannock. Carolyn Turner left for Lynchburg College last week to enter her senior year.
Doug Keyser has retired from the College of William and Mary. He and Ruth are making their home with Joe at Pleasant View. Ruth is helping ! Sarah several days a week in J the “News” office.
