Mrs. Cary Named
Cancer Chairman
Mrs. Frank Cary of Flint Hill, will lead the 1963 American Cancer Society’s educational and fund-raising Crusade in April for the Rappahannock County Unit. Announcement of Mrs. Cary’s appointment was made by Mr. Morrill M. Crowe, State Crusade Chairman, American Cancer Society.
The National Crusade Chairman is Ralph Edwards, well-known TV personality. Mrs. John F. Kennedy, wife of the President, will again serve as Honorary National Crusade Chairman. Mrs. Cary says: ‘‘It is the time to once again take stock of the progress made by medical science against cancer. “It is the time to listen to the message of the American Cancer Society that every adult should have an annual checkup no matter how healthy he may feel. All of us should learn to recognize the seven danger signals of cancer and to act at once should one appear. They do not necessarily mean cancer, but they do mean an immediate visit to your doctor.
“It is the time to listen and act when our support is sought for the American Cancer Society’s Educational and Fund -Raising Crusade. I urge all residents of Rappahannock County to support the Crusade, to give of themselves, their time and their money to help make the hope of cancer control become a reality.’’
