Although the weather was on the bleak side, a good crowd turned out for the annual Fox Drag Race and Horn Blowing Contest, held in Haywood January „19 by the Madison Wildlife Association. The event originally scheduled during the Christmas week had to be postponed because of bad weather at that time. J.M. Gibbs of Pratts.won both first and second places in the Drag Race with his hounds Boots and Lula. A. j. Clement’s Judy placed third. Clement comes from Route 1, Scottsville. Winners of the Horn Blowing Contest were Jack Bruce of Sperryville, first; Kenneth Weakley of Culpeper, second; and Tommey Jarrell of Wolftown, third.Competition was keen in this contest, with more entered, this year. A note of humor wa6 injected when a willing contestant gave some mighty blows but produced nothing but gusts from his horn. Judges for both contests were Link Brooking, Fred Higgins, Caffie New’man, Dewey Clatterbuck, and Miss Julia Shearer. Master o^ Ceremonies was Major A. M.
