Report Big Gain
The customers of investor owned electric power companies in Virginia used 12,330,601,000 kilowatthours of electricity in 1962, according to an annual report released by G. South Dunn, president of the Public Utilities Association of the Virginias.
In releasing the report, Dunn said that the use of electricity in the state jumped more than 1 billion kwhs during the year for an increase of nearly 9.5 per cent from 1961. While the peak month during the year came in September when 1,084,341,000 kwhs were used, February showed the greatest increase for any month during the year over the corresponding month in 1961. Commercial and industrial customers used approximately 59 per cent of the total kilowatthours consumed in 1962. The report shows that these customers increased their use 10.2 per cent in 1962 over 1961.
