Interest To Veterans
The Roanoke Regional Office of the Veterans Administration has just received $6,350,000 for direct home loans. This is the largest single allotment received by Roanoke for direct loans for
Colored News.
Army Pvt. John R. Turner, 19,son of Mr. and Mrs.James A. Turner, Washington, Va., participated with other members of Company C of the 68th Armor’s 3d Battalion in two weeks of tank training at Baumholder, Germany. The training ended in mid-August. The maneuver was planned to test tank employment, efficient tactical use of cover and concealment and location of firing positions. Turner entered the Army in September 1962 and received basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., before arriving overseas in February of this year. Turner is a 1962 graduate of Carver High School, Rapidan.
