Leaving for college Is Miss Dorothy Eleene Payne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Payne of Sperryville who will enter the Johnston - Willis Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond and was the recipient of a scholarship from the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia. Miss Payne said that she expected to make use of her education by bpcoming a registered nurse since her graduation from Rappahannock County High School in June. She advised that the Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing is accredited by the Virginia State Board of Nurse Examiners and offers' a three year course, after completion of which one is Issued a diploma and may write the Virginia State Board of Nurses Examiners for licensing as a registered nurse. It has a three months' affiliation in psychiatric nursing at the Tucker Hospital and courses in microbiology,physiology and chemistry are provided at the Richmond Professional Institute.
Health and Miss Elizabeth F. Harlln, Director of Bureau of Nursing for the State Health Department. W. W. Wendt, Executive Director of the Virginia Tuberculosis Association represented members of that organization. Topics covered included the Virginia school health program, Health services for the school age child and school health and the TB Association.
