August 13, 1963 — This morning we got up early so we would be ready when the bus picked us up. The bus would take us to main headquarters where we would stay for a night. In the morning we will board the bus and head home. We had to walk about a mile to where the bus would pick us up. We covered the distance in good time and reached the pickup spot at about 8:40. We wtere picked up 5 minutes later and taken to headquarters. Here we were assigned to tents and went about getting ourselves straightened out. Some washed clothes, all took showers, and we did other various things. We got our laundry back and It really felt good to get clean clothes on. Later on In the afternoon, it began to rain. It rained hard for several hours.Flnally it quit. A report was that it had rained more today than in the past year altogether.This past week has been the wettest one this year at Philmont.
