The entire State of Virginia is eligible for direct loans with the exceptions of the following counties and cities. Counties; Roanoke, Henrico; Prince George, Dinwiddle, Prince William, Chesterfield except Manchester District. Arlington and Fairfax Counties and the City of Alexandria are served by The Veterans Benefits Office in Washington. - Cities - Lynchburg, Willlmasburg, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, South Norfolk, Hampton, Roanoke, Bristol, Chesapeake City,Richmond, Virginia Beach City, Petersburg, Hopewell. Any'veteran in an eligible area who has been unable to get a home loan through private lending sources should write to the VA requesting a direct loan application.
