Diane Bruce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs., Jack Bruce of Washington, Va. is entering Longwood College, Farmville where she plans to major in business education. She is a graduate of Warrenton High School, class of '63 and is the recipient of a $200 P. B. Smith memorial scholarship. The scholarship fund honors the memory of the late Mr. Smith who was principal of Warrenton High School for many years. She also received two other scholarships, the three making a total of $750. With these and her summer earning Diane is able to completely finance her first year at Longwood. She received two awards from Warrenton High School for the year 62-63, the girls athletic award and the faculty award. This is the first time in the history of the school that one student has received both the athletic and scholastic awards. At Warrenton Diane played basketball and softball, was a member of the Junior Classical League, the Tri-Hi-Y, Student Council, and was on the staff of the school paper and yearbook. She was a member of the Honor Society, being tapped in her junior year and had an overall average of B for her five years in high school. She was employed at Wayland Ford Tractor Sales, Warrenton, the past summer.
