Washington PTA Organized for * 63-’64
The first meeting of Washington Elementary School PTA was held in the school auditorium at 7:30 September 24, 1963, with Mrs'. John Williams, Amissvill^/ presiding until officers were elected. Mrs. Williams, whowastrea surer of the group last year, made a report on funds, stating there, was a balance of $351.44 in the treasury. This was from dues and money made last year and included fees for handling the resale of textbooks at the beginning of the ’63-64 session of school. The group decided to continue this service. Officers elected were: prest dent, Rev. Charles Glaenzer; vice-president, Mrs. Annie Cooke, principal of the school secretary, Mrs. Jean B. Moffett; treasurer, Mrs. John Williams. Mrs. Moffett and Mrs. Williams Served in these offices last year. Date and time for regular meetings df the organizations were set for the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the school. All patrons are urged to attend and for those who have to bring small child ren, there will be someone to care for them during the meet ing. A membership drive tfas discussed and Mrs. Cooke said she would talk with the faculty concerning this and report at the October meeting. The project discussed last year of covering the outside stairs to the cafeteria was again brought up but no action was ,taken. » A program committee will be appointed by the president. Scheduled on the program for October is a film, the title to be announced later. After each of the 20 or more patrons attending introduced themselves, the meeting adjourned until Tuesday evening Oct. 15. Anyone who wishes to attend the PTA meetings and lacks transportation can contact Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Moffett, Mrs. Cooke or Rev. Glaenzer so it can be arranged

Mrs. Milton Jenkins and Mrs.' Nelson Burner spent last Tuesday in Richmond shopping and attended the State Fair. Miss Carolyn Hodge, accompanied by five other students from Culpeper High School, attended a Student Cooperative Association meeting Saturday at King George High School. Mrs. Juliett Greer of Warrenton arrived Sunday to spend several days with Mrs. A. C. Latham and other friends in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Priest and family and Mr. and Mrs Stanley Settle and children went on a cook-out picnic Sunday,on Skyline Drive. Miss Judith Latham, a student at Shenandoah College; Winchester, spent the weekend with her family, Mr. and Mrs.
