Somehow working out a delivery schedule for our Angus calf sale was the most difficult ever experienced. It would be simple if each consignor could deliver all their calves at once but with apple harvest in full swing, trucks being limited and consignors having calves at different locations, we had quite a time holding

deliveries at approximately 120 head per hour. One consignor felt he had to make five deliveries; two, four deliveries, and several three deliveries., Then, too, no less than seven consignors are employing

the same trucker, who will also have to haul his

and his son’s calves. Yup, you guessed it...Weldon and

Garfield Burke. A good cattleman

with a good reputation

as a hauler gets the business.

We have around forty-three herds consigning around 1270 head. Deliveries will be made Oct. 14 with the sale to start promtly at 2 p. m. the following day.

In traveling over the county

I’ve been impressed by the

amount of game. More quail and rabbit than I’ve ever noticed.

Coveys are quite large and seemingly there are two

broods ....some practically grown and others about the size of English sparrows.
