Bass Hitting
Several weeks ago young Jimmie Darnell of Orange landed a 3 pound largemouth bass and this seemed to be the signal for bass, both large and smallmouth, to go on a spree. The weather has been cool and the fish on the move. Good catches of James river smallmouth have been reported all the way from Lynchburg to Richmond. I have no reports from the Shenandoah or the Rapidan, but its a safe bet the fishing has been good on these first class bass streams.
String of Shot
When I find myself consistent* ly missing doves, I try to improve the situation by keeping mind that the pattern of shot from a shotgun takes the form of a shot string. The shot string out as well as spread out. The trick is to throw this string of shot into the path of the grey streaks.
Bow String Nocking Points
While readying your archery tackle for the coming bow season, add a set for rubber nocking points to your equipment. These little gadgets cost about a buck and can be threaded onto your bow string with a hair pin. They mark the nocking point on your bow string and provide protection for your drawing hand.
