Local Men To Attend SS Co-op Meeting
E.M. Jones of Washington will represent Southern States Cooperative members in the Sperryville area at the cooperative’s district election meeting to be held October 10 at the Pelham House in Culpeper. Lee Thornton manager of the local Southern States retail outlet in the above area will also attend. The session will elect a member of the cooperative to serve on its Board of Directors for the next three years. The man elected will be confirmed at the cooperative’s 40th annual Stockholders Meeting in Richmond, Va., on November 14 and 15. The group will also select a nominating committee for the 1966 election meeting. The program for the Culpeper meeting will include a talk by L. O. Brumback, the cooperative’s director of membership relations, who will discuss the responsibilities of local directors and board members. There will also be the showing of a strip film entitled “This Business Called a Coop for This Businessman Called a Farmer," which points out why farmers need cooperatives in today's economy.
W J. Day, Southern States Regional manager, of Winchester will be in charge of arrangements for the meeting.
