Any interested student who is unable to pay the fee should consult Miss Zinn. Awards in the Merit Program are granted on the basis of intellectual merit, but student financial needs determine the amount of individual stipends. The stipends are renewable each year without further testing. A student’s performance on the qualifying test also provides him with information that is useful in career planning or in selecting courses in high school and college, Miss Zinn stated. After the test, each participating student receives a Handbook for Merit Program Participants, prepared by Science Research Associates, the testing agency.
