torrid temperatures of the previous week, felt just like It came from the North Pole. With the aid of hot coffee, hot dogs, hamburgers, jackets, coats, sweaters andeven blankets, the activity continued until midnight, at which time prizes were awarded. Marie Sealock of Huntly was awarded first prize of $500; Charles F. Dodson, Sperry/ille was given second prize of $150; and Laura Walker, Front Royal, $50. The Chester Gap community and fire company expressed great appreciation to all who assisted in making the carnival a success.
