A good soaking rain Sunday further alleviated the drought situation in Rappahannock County when 3 inches were recorded in Amissville and 4.4 inches was the official measure in Washington. Showers th^ past Wednesday morning was the first substantial rain fall over the whole county since May. In the Woodville and Sperryville areas, unofficial reports ranged from 4 to 6 inches of precipitation. Parched hay fields, corn fields and lawns have begun to look alive again, and the fruit crop will benefit tremendously. Late gardens and forage crops will mature if a reasonably good season follows.
