Disputed Boundary
Commissioners on the bound ary line committee of Rappahannock, Culpeper and Madison counties met Tuesday to study the disputed area and make a tour of the sections in question. From Rappahannock were Gen. Daniel Noce and D. D. Miller, recently appointed to the seat of the late Elmo Flynt, Third mem ber of the committee, C. E, Johnson, Jr. was unable to attend. After viewing the boundary accompanied by R. M. Bartenstein who surveyed the line, the commissioners scheduled a meeting to be held next Tuesday at 7:30 in the Culpeper National Bank. The commissioners have studied all maps and documents and have visited the area involved, and hope to make some progress in the matter at Tuesday’s meeting. Rappahannock County Commonwealth’s Attorney George H. Davis, Jr. filed a suit against Culpeper and Madison Counties after a com* prehensive study revealed that land had been swapped back and forth between counties for many years for tax purposes. According to the survey made by the Bartenstein firm, Rappahannock stands to gain from 6 to 10 acres of land. A final decision will be made by the circuit court.
