New Welfare Worker
Mrs. Betty Witherow of Madison has accepted a position with the Rappahannock County Welfare Department as a social worker. She is employed on a half-time basis and will assist Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin, who heads that department, with case work. Mrs. Witherow, a graduate of Madison College, Harrisonburg, has had several years experience in this work. She has held positions in Orange, Louisa, and Hanover counties. She is married to E. C. Witherow, Jr. and they have four children.
Beagle Field Trials
Set This Saturday
The Rappahannock Game and Fish Club will hold its first Beagle Hound Field Trial Saturday, November 6, at Woodville. Signs will mark directions to the scene of the field trials in the area of the Jimmy Falls, Clifton Clark property. The club hopes to make this event an annual affair. The day’s activities begin at 8 a. m. with dogs being measured and numbered. Awards will be presented in two classes, 13 inch and 15 inch hounds. Lunch will, be available on the grounds. The public is invited to enter beagles or join the activities as spectators.
Cancer Meeting
The Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society will meet Thursday, November 4 (tonight) at the courthouse, Washington, Va. at 7:30 p.m. All members, officers anddirectors are urged to be present and anyone interested is invited to attend.
