The crease resistance of many bonded fabrics is good. The tricot backing imparts some of its crease resistance to the face fabric. Sewing time is reduced with bonded fabrics. Bonded fabrics are also called “prelined* and additional linings for garments are not needed. This cuts sewing time. "With bonded fabrics bulk is increased--due to the two layers of fabric. Be sure to trim fabric at seams to reduce bulk, advises Miss Wain. Bonded fabrics may be difficult to work with in areas where extra fullness must be eased out, such as with set-in sleeves, yokes, or curved seams. Care must be taken to achieve a sharp seam line. In choosing a commercial pattern for bonded fabric, try to avoid one with set-in sleeves, yokes, curved seams, and intricate details. Bonded fabrics are less expensive. In a season where imported and domestic double knits are popular, bonded fabrics offer similar properties at loiKgr cost.
