Basketball is now officially in the air. This week marked the beginning of basketball practice for the coming season. Due to repairs on the gym floor, Monday’s practice was rescheduled to Tuesday. The FHA held a bake sale Saturday at Lea’s Store in Washington. Proceeds from the sale went to the FHA’s activity fund. Mrs. Louise Marshall and Mrs. Betty Wood attended the VEA convention in Richmond' last week. Members of the Varsity Club are busy ordering jacketa To receive a jacket, a student must participate and letter in sports, and work for the Varsity Club selling refreshments at the home games. Those who have earned jackets this year are: Carolyn Johnston, Martha Shiilingburg, Billy Mundy, Cecil Pullen, Mike Titchenell, David Smoot, Harold Walker, Jimmie Latham, Jimmie Jenkins, Danny Lillard, Melvin Atkins, Ronnie Pullen and Bill Welch.
