The weekend storm, the first snow of the season, left Rappahannock blanketed with 81/2 inches of snow. Beginning before noon Saturday, the snow reached a depth of over six inches then became mixed with rain and sleet and mor*snow, stopping in the early hours of Sunday. More snow yesterday slowed business and traffic and kept schools closed. The highways were kept in good condition throughout the storm and primary roads were clear Sunday morning. However, secondary roads were hazardous and schools in the county have been closed all week. Smiling and enjoying the snow, in addition to all children, were the proprietors of Skyline Ski Area in HarrisHollow. The ski area had been carrying on limited operations with artificial snow, and as the natural snow began to fall it did not deter skiiers, who continued with lessons and skiing throughout Saturday. Bright skies Sunday morn ing brought many enthusiests to the area in spite of the keen winds stirring the fallen snow, and approximately 600 skiiers visited the area during the weekend. _
