The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is putting the final touches to their annual Carnival and Parade which will be held August 3-6. Again this year McSpadden rides from Florida will furnish at least 10 rides on the brilliantly illuminated midway Wed., Aug. 3. There will be a giant display of fireworks for all to see and enjoy. The attractions for the next three nights are also ones that you won't want to miss. On Thursday, August 4, at 7;00 p.m. there will be a Grand Parade consisting of 150 units. The Parade will be led by the United States Navy Band and Grand Marshal Miss Deborah Lough, “Miss State Fair." Through the courtesy of the Pepsi Cola company, the newly crowned “Miss Virginia" Miss Linda Jo Maclin, will appear as a special guest. The parade will also include many top marching bands, floats, beauty queens, majorettes, clowns, antique cars, distinguished guests and the newest and oldest in fire fight ing and rescue equipment. Plate suppers will be servec during and after the Parade by the Ladies Auxiliary. On Friday night there will be a drawing for a 600 lb. pure bred registered black angus heifer and a complete set of china. The Carnival will be brought to a climax Saturday night by the awarding of the grand prize a 1966 Plymouth and other cash prizes. Each night on display in the fire hall will be the newly built Virginia Department of Highway's State Fair exhibit which is a free attraction. There will be plenty of food, games and amusements for all ages.
